La Cage Aux Folles auditions announced

Imagine will transform Wall Street Night Club into La Cage Aux Folles in February for our first full production of 2014. You may know the story from the 1996 movie The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. So that means, we have the perfect venue to showcase a cast of hot high-kicking drag queens.  We are excited to announce Audrey Rush as director after her recent appearance as Maria in 9 to 5. Audrey has worked with Actors’ Theatre and Mad Lab locally after completing her degree in Theatre from The Ohio State University. The production team includes Tim Valentine, musical director; Dana Anderson, stage manager; Zoe Lathan, choreographer; Jackie Farbeann, costumer; and Rob Philpott, set/lighting designer.

The cast will include:

13-15 men: Albin, Georges, Jean-Michel, Anne, Edouard Dindon/Mr. Renaud, Jacob, Francis, Les Cagelles (6-8)

3 women: Anne, Jacqueline, Marie Dindon/Mme. Renaud

Actors should prepare a brief vocal selection and be ready to learn a dance combination. An accompanist will be provided. Auditions will be on Saturday, December 14 starting at 1:00pm at Stonewall Columbus in the Short North. Call-backs will take place on Sunday, December 15.

youngfrank(2)We’ve come to expect nothing but hilarity from the work of Mel Brooks, and Young Frankenstein will not dissapoint! Brooks’ retelling of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein has lept from the screen to the stage with the greatest of ease.

Director Chris Johnson and his team had a tough time sorting through all the awesome performers at auditions!  And in true Imagine fashion, both new and old faces round out this excellent cast.  Chris and his production team are chomping at the bit to show us their deep love for this zany musical comedy.  Get ready to celebrate the Halloween season as Imagine presents Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein and laugh yourself… TO DEATH!  (But not really.  We prefer you stay alive to see our future productions)

Strong cast to take charge of this summer’s 9 to 5

Outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic, 9 to 5: The Musical, is about teaming up and taking care of business… it’s about getting credit and getting even… and it’s about to take charge of Wall Street Nightclub with Imagine’s summer production.  The women are in charge and what fierce strong women we have!

Casting for the Columbus premiere of 9 to 5 turned challenging with strong talent competing for the lead roles.  With also a robust ensemble, we are very excited to welcome so many new and extremely talented performers to Imagine’s stage at Wall Street.  The production team always looks for strong singer/dancers and as usual, Imagine didn’t have to look far – the competition was tough!  With a new set design and concept, hot choreography, and our typical vivacious orchestra, Ryan Scarlata will be leading this production to it’s opening on August 7.  Get your tickets now at  Seriously, don’t miss the Columbus premiere of this entertaining show!

Urinetown Overflowing with….Talent

After starting the 2013 season off with a show about intrigue, scandal, and murder most foul, Imagine’s next offering this season will also feature bold lawbreakers who – dare I say it – pee. Wherever they want. Whenever they want. With whomever they want.  The satirical comedy Urinetown is making its way to Wall Street’s stage in May, and this past weekend we saw close to forty amazing people audition to help bring this hilariously twisted version of a potential future to life.  Over twenty of these people were called back to see what they could make of the brilliant music and script. After our production staff was finally able to stop laughing at the hilarity, they set off to select our cast.

And here we are, surrounded by a shady crew of characters who are going to teach you all the finer points of popular resistance, political back-dealings, corporate strong-arming, and sustainable economic policy. But through jokes and music. We look forward to seeing you all in May when this fantastic cast and crew bring down the walls of Wall Street with laughter.
